MEMORY BURNS

(Don Breithaupt)

I saw Tina, she was walking the blues
Guess she’d been there before
Golden music of her carnival youth
From every open door
Yes I remember when she used to be fine
The girl most likely to
But now she wanders in her wonderful mind
Trying to get a better view

When the light’s falling
She can almost hear the time go by
When the night’s talking
She’s alive

Memory burns
Like a castle in flames
And the past will not return
And we learn
Memory burns

I heard Bradley met a merciful end
Kissed one too many skies
I heard about it from a friend of a friend
Can’t say it took me by surprise
Yes I remember when we used to walk home
Along the street at noon
It took forever, It took half of his life
It took him way too soon

When the light’s falling
I would almost like to say goodbye
When the night’s talking
He’s alive

Fresh blanket of snow around us
Leaves the world in black and white
Fresh blanket of snow surrounds us

When the light’s falling
I can almost hear the time go by
When the night’s talking
I’m alive
